Lucknow: Jeweller receives death threat letter along with live bullet

Lucknow: Aakash Gupta , the owner of a jewellery shop here in Krishna Nagar, received a threat letter through a courier. When he opened the letter, he found a live bullet in it. "The extortionist has demanded Rs 5 lakh and gave a life threat to me," said Gupta , as reported by news agency IANS.
"After reading the letter, I immediately informed the police. Two policemen were deployed for my security," Gupta said. The letter was delivered by a private courier company who came to his shop and handed him the letter. The name of the sender was written as Vijay Jaiswal and the senders address was given as Lucknow Jail , reported IANS.
The letter stated that the bullet would be used if the money was not given, the bullet would be used. It said that the money had to be handed over to the seller at jail. Gupta’s brother had been murdered and the body was found in Barabanki district. The accused has not yet been arrested. In 2019, a dacoity also took place in their cousin's jewellery shop in which two persons were killed, reported IANS.
ADCP (Central) Raghvendra Mishra has said that the matter was being investigated and action would be taken at the earliest. A few persons have also been detained for questioning, he added, as reported by IANS.
n another similar incident, the Mumbai crime branch arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly trying to extort Rs 35 lakh from the proprietor of a bakery in the Western suburbs of Mumbai.
Police have identified the accused as Sadiq-ul-Haq, who is a former employee of the complainant. The accused reportedly tried to commit the crime after learning about it on YouTube, The Indian Express reported.
According to police officers, Sadiq contacted the complainant for the first time on the night of July 9. He said that he works for Chota Shakeel and is a member of the D-gang. He then demanded the money.
The bakery owner subsequently filed a complaint with Oshiwara police, and an extortion case was launched.
According to the Anti-Extortion Cell, which was looking into the matter, the accused made another call on July 13.
An officer said, "The second time, he called from the phone of a tea stall owner, which led to the phone's owner being tracked down in Andheri, and the accused being hunted down and arrested with the assistance of the tea stall owner."
During questioning, the accused informed cops that he committed the crime because he wanted to marry.
