Constitution Day: Citizens pledge to uphold, live by constitution
Constitution Day was observed at institutions and organisations across the city. At the Raj Bhavan, Kalpana Awasthi, principal secretary to governor Anandiben Patel, recited the Preamble to the Indian Constitution to all officers and employees. She asked them to follow the fundamental duties given in the Constitution. On this occasion, all the officers and employees of the Governor’s Office took oath to abide by the constitution.
Lucknow University
Constitution Day was organised by Lucknow University Moot Court Association (LUMA), faculty of law on the New Campus of Lucknow University. The theme of the event was India: The Mother of Democracy. On this occasion, Lalta Prasad Mishra, senior advocate, Allahabad High Court, graced the event as chief guest.
On this occasion, Professor Banshidhar Singh, head and dean, faculty of law highlighted the history of democratic values in India and how India has incorporated democratic values in its administration since ancient times.
GD Goenka Public School
At the GD Goenka Public School, innovative activities were held to highlight and reiterate the values and principles enshrined in the constitution. An important part of the celebrations was the reading of the Preamble and reaffirming the commitment to uphold it. Students and teachers read the Preamble on Saturday in their respective classes. The day served as a reminder to live by and promote these timeless values in communities.
