LU to celebrate its 102nd Foundation Day today

The Lucknow University will celebrate its 102nd Foundation Day on Friday, said Alok Kumar Rai, vice-chancellor (V-C), on Thursday.

Yogendra Upadhyay, minister of higher education, and Dayashankar Singh, transport minister and chief editor of Hindustan newspaper, Shashi Shekhar, will be coming as the chief guests in the programme, Rai said.

“This is for the first time a formal event is being organised on the university premises after achieving A++ grade in NAAC,” he added while briefing the media.

“This year for the very first time we have invited six notable alumni from different fields. The programme will be conducted in two parts. In the first half of the programme, the special alumni will share their journey and experience and will also be honoured by the guests. While, in the second half, cultural programmes will be organised by the former students of the university itself,” Prof Rai said.

Some notable alumni include Ritu Raj Awasthi, judge and chairperson of 22 Law Commission of India; Manu Kumar Srivastava, chief secretary to government of Maharashtra; Shashi Prakash Goyal, additional chief secretary to chief minister, UP; Jayanti Prasad, whole-time member of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, New Delhi, and among others.
