Both Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee had entered into a partnership deed under APA utility services in January 1, 201

The probe by the ED also revealed that properties were then brought in the name of this partnership firm of the accused persons.

During the search carried out at the residence of Arpita Mukherjee, the ED also recovered a conveyance deed registered in the office of ADSR Bolpur. The document seized by the agency mentions that the association between the two goes back to 2012 and their financial and landed interests have been converging at least since 2012
A special court in Kolkata sent Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee to two-day ED custody till August 5 in connection with the education scam case. The ED had raided Arpita Mukherjee's house on July 22 and recovered Rs 21.90 crore in cash. The probe agency also recovered Rs 56 lakh in foreign currency and gold worth Rs 76 lakh
Days afterwards, the ED recovered another Rs 28.90 crore in cash, over 5 kg gold and several documents from Arpita Mukherjee's second apartment. The recovered amount is suspected to be the proceeds of crime from the teacher recruitment scam. Arpita Mukherjee had said the money that was recovered from her houses in Kolkata does not belong to her and it was kept there in her absence.
The agency had arrested Chatterjee in connection with its investigation into the alleged irregularities in the education scam last month. Chatterjee had held the education portfolio when the scam was allegedly pulled off. The ED is looking into the money trail involved in the scam.
