Lucknow 25 september:(Desk)In a controversial incident in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, a seven-year-old student was expelled from Hilton Public School for allegedly bringing non-vegetarian food, specifically biryani, to school. The incident gained widespread attention after a video of a heated exchange between the child's mother and the principal went viral on social media

The video, which has not been independently verified, shows the principal making derogatory remarks towards the student’s Muslim background while defending his decision to expel the child. He claimed that the boy had been consistently bringing non-vegetarian food and accused him of expressing a desire to convert others to Islam through food. The principal stated, “We can't educate kids who break our temples, harm Hindus, and talk about converting all Hindus”

The mother confronted the principal, accusing him of verbal abuse and locking her son in a room. She insisted that her child was innocent and could not possibly understand such complex issues. The principal, however, maintained that he would not teach children who he believed would grow up to demolish temples, further escalating the confrontation

In response to the public outcry and backlash from the community, the Amroha Muslim Committee has demanded strict action against the principal, calling for his arrest and the suspension of the school's affiliation. They submitted a memorandum to local authorities, including the district magistrate, urging a thorough investigation into the incident

The District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) has since ordered a probe into the matter, forming a three-member committee to investigate the allegations made by the mother. The committee is tasked with uncovering the facts surrounding the incident and is expected to submit its findings shortly. The Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Amroha emphasized that appropriate actions would be taken based on the investigation's outcomes

This incident highlights ongoing tensions related to religious and cultural differences in India, particularly in educational settings. The expulsion of the child and the principal's comments have sparked discussions about intolerance and discrimination, prompting calls for a more inclusive environment in schools.
