Haryana Election 2024: BJP to Advance the Political Legacy of 'Bulldozer' Bansi Lal through his Son Sunil

Sunil Bansi Lal, the son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal, has resigned from his government position to join the BJP and carry forward his father's political legacy. Bansi Lal, fondly called the 'Bulldozer', was known for his no-nonsense approach and development-oriented policies during his tenure as CM from 1996 to 2005.

Sunil Sangwan, the son of former Haryana Minister Satpal Sangwan, has resigned from his position as Jail Superintendent in Bhondsi (Gurugram) to join politics and carry forward his father's political legacy. Satpal Sangwan, a close confidant of former Chief Ministers Bansi Lal and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, had joined the BJP after being denied a ticket from Dadri by the Congress in the last Assembly elections.

Sunil Sangwan, who has served in the Jail Department for over 22 years, is expected to contest the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections from Dadri on a BJP ticket after his VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme) is approved. His induction into the BJP is being facilitated by former CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

Satpal Sangwan, fondly called the 'Bulldozer' by Bansi Lal due to his heavyweight status, had resigned from his SDO post in 1996 to contest the Haryana Vikas Party ticket from Charkhi Dadri on Bansi Lal's request. He later became a Congress MLA from Dadri in 2009 and served as the Cooperation and Housing Minister for five years in the Hooda government.

The entry of Sunil Sangwan into the BJP is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the party's hold in the Dadri region and tap into the political influence wielded by the Sangwan family. As the BJP gears up for the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, the induction of Sunil Sangwan and the party's efforts to counter the impact of Chaudhary Birender Singh's departure to the Congress will be crucial in determining the outcome

Sunil Sangwan's Journey from Jail Department to Politics
Sunil Sangwan began his government service on January 2, 2002, as a Deputy Superintendent in the Jail Department. His first posting was at the Bhondsi Jail in Gurugram. Coincidentally, he has resigned from the same jail where he served as the Superintendent.

Sunil Sangwan's resignation from the Jail Department comes as he prepares to join politics and carry forward his father Satpal Sangwan's political legacy.
