Seven individuals have been detained in connection with the triple murder case in Ferozepur.
Four days after a tragic shooting incident in Ferozepur city that claimed the lives of three young individuals, police have made significant progress in the case by arresting seven suspects in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The arrests were made following an extensive night-long operation based on intelligence provided by the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF)
The incident occurred on September 3, 2024, when the victims, including two siblings, were shot dead while traveling in their car near Gurudwara Akalgarh Sahib. The deceased have been identified as Dildeep Singh and his sister Jaspreet Kaur, both residents of Kamboj Nagar in Ferozepur. Another victim, Akashdeep Singh, was also killed in the attack. Reports indicate that the assailants, riding motorcycles, indiscriminately fired approximately 50 rounds at the victims' vehicle, leading to chaos in the area
The Punjab Police AGTF contacted their counterparts in Maharashtra around 3 a.m. on Saturday to assist in intercepting the suspects, who were tracked down following a surveillance operation initiated from Nanded. The seven suspects were apprehended at 5:45 a.m. in the Samruddhi highway tunnel by a team from the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Police. This operation involved a total of 10 officers and 40 personnel, including a quick response team, who took necessary precautions, including wearing bulletproof jackets, as they were aware that the suspects were armed
The arrested individuals have been charged under various sections of the BNS Act, 2023, and the Arms Act, specifically for their involvement in the murders. The police have stated that their swift and coordinated response was crucial in apprehending the suspects before they could escape
