The construction of the new four-lane bridge at New Bazaar Ojhauli to cross the Saryu River on the Varanasi-Gorakhpur National Highway has once again been challenged by the river's devastating waves, which have caused severe erosion.
Soil between the pillars washed away
The soil between the 25th and 26th pillars, prepared for the bridge construction, has been washed away into the river's current, alarming engineers from the NHAI and JP Group. Significantly, the river's erosion is gradually advancing towards the final foundation of the four-lane bridge.
If the erosion does not stop, it is believed that the entire effort of bridge construction could face an even greater setback.
Engineers in a dilemma
The engineering of the four-lane bridge being constructed over the Saryu River near Duhari Ghat is repeatedly being disrupted by the river's wrath, leaving the engineers perplexed.
