Mumbai News Live Updates: Bombay HC orders demolition of illegal portions at Narayan Rane’s bungalow within two weeks

The Bombay High Court dismissed a plea of a company owned by Union Minister and BJP leader Narayan Rane seeking direction to the BMC to consider and decide its second application for regularisation of alleged unauthorised structures at his eight-storey bungalow in Juhu. A division bench of Justice Ramesh D Dhanuka and Justice Kamal R Khata directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to demolish unauthorised portions within two weeks and submit a compliance report of the same within a week thereafter.Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) – one of the world’s busiest single-runway airports – handled a record passenger movement of 1,30,374 on September 17, its highest since the pandemic, a statement from Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) said. The no-homework proposal by Maharashtra School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar has triggered a heated debate with educationists standing united against it. At a time when ‘homework – to give or not to give’ has become the most discussed topic on school campuses, it has finally brought attention to the pressing issue of the structure-less nature of homework with no guidelines. Although educationists have criticised the proposal by the minister, according to most of them, the government should prepare a structure with help from experts on how to make homework effective so that it is not considered a burden on either the student or their parents.
Maha CM forms group of ministers for National Education Policy implementation
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde formed a working group of ministers for the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), officials said.

The group will be headed by Shinde himself and will comprise deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan and Agriculture Minister Abdul Sattar.

A task force on the NEP headed by Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, set up by the Maharashtra government, has recommended upgradation of polytechnic degree courses, statutory provisions for foreign universities and a committee on teacher training, among others, said a statement by the Chief Minister's Office.
