Aligarh: amu riders win big in equestrian events,Student won gold medal in sword competition in UP horse riding championship

20221223_092754.jpgAligarh: The superlative performances of two Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students bagged them top prizes in the Uttar Pradesh Equestrian Championship held at Ghaziabad earlier this week.

Basil Hanafi, senior rider, AMU Riding Club got the Gold medal in the Individual Tent Pegging (Sword) event and Ahmad Hasan won the Bronze medal in the ‘Show Jumping’ event, which is the first medal in the category won by an AMU rider.

The duo also bagged a Bronze medal in the Team tent Pegging (Lance) in the Ghaziabad Horse Show competing against the teams from the Indian Navy, Paramilitary and the State Police.

“Basil and Ahmad now eye a place in the nationals and they have already started training for the National Equestrian Championship and other Regional Equestrian League events”, said Prof Amjad Ali Rizvi (Secretary University Games Committee), Dr Wasif Mohammad Ali (President Riding Club) and Mr Imran Khan (Coach).
