TWO BOOTLEGGERS ARRESTED WITH HUGE QUANTITY OF ILLICIT LIQUOR BY THE TEAM OF PS SARAI ROHILLA DELHI*

TWO BOOTLEGGERS ARRESTED BY THE PATROLLING STAFF OF PS SARAI ROHILLA.

05 BAGS & 11 CARTONS (TOTAL 1149 QUARTER BOTTLES) OF ILLICIT LIQUOR RECOVERED FROM THEIR POSSESSION.

ONE MARUTI EECO VAN USED FOR TRANSPORTATION OF ILLICIT LIQUOR SEIZED IN POLICE POSSESSION.

PS Sarai Rohilla team has launched a special drive to keep a check on the persons indulging in bootlegging to break the chain of bootlegging. Accordingly, a dedicated police team comprising of HC Sandeep, HC Rambabu and Ct Deepak, under the close supervision of Inspr. Shish Pal, SHO/PS Sarai Rohilla has been working relentlessly and developing information about bootlegging, under the guidance of Shri Prashant Chaudhary, ACP/Sarai Rohilla. The team also used to patrol in the area in odd hours randomly to keep a check on such illegal activities.

On 19.09.2022, as per the directions of senior officers, the above said police party was patrolling in the area of PS Sarai Rohilla. During patrolling the team received a secret information through their reliable sources that two persons sitting on a Eeco Van white colour having illicit liquor would come from Inderlok side and they may go to Kishan Ganj through Old Rohtak Road. If raid is conducted well in time, they might be apprehended with huge quantity of illicit liquor.

The above said information was passed to the senior officers and as per their directions the police team reached at Old Rohtak Road near police post Daya Basti and started checking of the vehicles by installing barricades. Ultimately the efforts of the police team bore fruits when at about 11:00 AM they noticed one Eeco Van coming from Inderlok side. The driver of the Eeco van tried to escape from the spot by taking U-turn, but the alleged Eeco van was intercepted and both the persons sitting on the van were apprehended by the valour police team after a short chase.

On checking the Eeco van 05 bags and 11 cartons containing illicit liquor (i.e. 580 quarter bottles of Race-7 and 569 quarter bottles of Motta Masaledar Deshi Sharab for sale in Haryana Only) recovered from the alleged Eeco Van.

The accused persons were identified as Ashish Vats, age-36 years and Anil, age-22 years. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 598/22 dated 19.09.2022 u/s 33/58 Delhi Excise Act was registered at PS Sarai Rohilla and investigation was taken up.

INTERROGATION:
During interrogation, both the accused persons Ashish Vats, age-36 years and Anil, age-22 years disclosed that they brought the illicit liquor from Bahadurgarh, Haryana border and they have to supply the same in the area of Anand Parvat, Delhi. Both the accused persons further revealed that they usually bring such stock of illicit liquor from Haryana border and supply it in the area of Central Delhi in order to make adequate profit. Previously they used to bring the illicit liquor in the local buses but since from a week they started to bring the same in Eeco van.

The accused Ashish Vats is a school dropout and has studied up to 8th standard only and he is a driver by profession. Whereas the accused Anil is an illiterate and used to work of loading goods in the area of Nangloi but both indulged in supplying the illicit liquor in the local areas of Central District to make adequate profit.

DETAIL OF ACCUSED PERSONS:

  1. Ashish Vats r/o Shiv Enclave, Dhichaon Road, Najafgarh Delhi, aged-36 years. (His previous antecedents are being verified).

  2. Anil r/o Durga Chowk, Prem Nagar, Nangloi, Delhi, aged-22 years. (His previous antecedents are being verified).

RECOVERY:

  1. 05 bags and 11 cartons of illicit liquor (Total 1149 quarter bottles).

  2. Maruti Eeco Van used for transportation of illicit liquor. (Owned by the brother of accused Ashish Vats).
