Hamirpur 02 September (desk):-Hamirpur: In anticipation of the large influx of pilgrims travelling to Chitrakoot for Somvati Amavasya, the Hamirpur Bus Depot deployed a fleet of 30 buses on Sunday, including 10 new buses designated for Chitrakoot. This decision, however, left passengers on other routes stranded as the remaining buses failed to meet the demand, leading to delays of up to two hours.

The Hamirpur Depot, which typically operates a fleet of 60 buses, found itself short-handed after auctioning off six old, dilapidated buses. With 30 buses allocated specifically for Chitrakoot to facilitate the pilgrimage, passengers travelling on other routes faced significant inconvenience. Many were seen waiting at bus stops for extended periods, frustrated by the lack of available transportation.

The move was intended to support the thousands of pilgrims making their way to Chitrakoot to take a holy dip in the Mandakini River and offer prayers at the revered Kamta Nath Temple. While the decision was welcomed by the pilgrims, it has caused disruption for daily commuters and those travelling to other destinations, who were left with fewer travel options and longer wait times.

Passengers have voiced their concerns, urging the authorities to strike a better balance in resource allocation, particularly during religious events that see a surge in travel. The incident has underscored the need for better planning and communication to ensure that all passengers, whether pilgrims or daily commuters, are adequately served.
