Baghpat 04 September (desk):-Villagers from Sisana and Niwara in Baghpat district gathered at the Collectorate on Wednesday to demand fair compensation for land acquired by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC). The villagers, led by representatives including Rajendra Chauhan and Rajkumar, submitted a memorandum to Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Pankaj Verma, urging the government to address their long-standing grievances regarding the land acquisition process that began in 1999.

The affected farmers expressed their dissatisfaction with the compensation rates offered at the time of acquisition, which were set at Rs. 41.46 per square meter. They argued that the compensation was grossly inadequate and failed to reflect the true value of their land. Additionally, the villagers claimed that they were promised 10 percent of the acquired land as plots, a promise that has yet to be fulfilled. This has led to growing frustration among the villagers, who feel they have been treated unfairly.

Over the years, the villagers have made numerous appeals to the authorities for a reassessment of the compensation and fulfillment of the promised plots, but their concerns have largely gone unaddressed. The lack of action has caused significant economic hardship for the farmers, many of whom relied on the land for their livelihoods. The villagers emphasized that the issue has been lingering for over two decades, and the failure to resolve it has created a sense of injustice in the community.

In their meeting with the ADM, the villagers requested an immediate review of the compensation package and the distribution of the promised plots. They warned that if their demands are not met, they will consider escalating their protests. The ADM assured them that their memorandum would be forwarded to the relevant authorities for consideration. However, the villagers remain cautiously optimistic, hoping that this time their pleas will result in concrete action rather than further delays.
