The incident, which took place on August 31, saw three men—Rizwan, Wasim, and Rojoo—allegedly assaulting an eighth-grade girl and attempting to force her to convert by making her wear a hijab and perform religious prayers. The case was filed by the victim’s father, who reported that his daughter was not only gang-raped but was also coerced into changing her religion by the three men. Rizwan was the first to be apprehended, followed by Rojoo, who surrendered to the authorities. The arrest of the third accused, Wasim, has brought some relief to the victim's family, who had recently expressed fears of threats from the accused’s associates.

The family had approached the Superintendent of Police (SP), alleging that they were being intimidated by people associated with the accused, pressuring them to withdraw the case. They had even threatened to leave their home if Wasim was not arrested soon. To address their concerns, the police provided security around their residence and assured the family of swift justice.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) N.P. Singh, Wasim has been arrested and presented before the court, where he was remanded to jail. The police continue their investigation into the case and have assured that anyone attempting to intimidate the victim’s family will also face legal consequences.
