ONE DESPERATE CRIMINAL ARRESTED BY THE TEAM OF PP ISBT, PS KASHMERE GATE

HABITUAL MOBILE PHONE THIEF WHO USED TO COMMIT THEFT IN AND OUTSIDE ISBT ARRESTED ALONG WITH BUTTON ACTUATED KNIFE BY THE TEAM OF PS KASHMERE GATE, NORTH DISTRICT*

ONE DESPERATE CRIMINAL WANDERING IN THE AREA HAVING BUTTON-ACTUATED KNIFE TO COMMIT CRIME, ARRESTED BY THE TEAM OF PP ISBT, PS KASHMERE GATE.

POLICE PATROLLING TEAM NOTICED A SUSPECT NEAR ISBT, KASHMERE GATE.


• THE SUSPECT ON SEEING THE POLICE TEAM TRIED TO FLEE FROM THE SPOT, BUT THE ALERT POLICE TEAM CHASED AND NABBED HIM.

• ONE BUTTON ACTUATED KNIFE AND ONE STOLEN MOBILE PHONE RECOVERED ON THE SPOT FROM HIS POSSESSION.

• THE ACCUSED USED TO STEAL MOBILE PHONES OF PASSENGERS IN BUSES AND ALSO IN CROWDED AREAS.

• THE ACCUSED IS A HABITUAL CRIMINAL WITH THE HISTORY OF INVOLVEMENT IN 03 CASES OF ROBBERY, THEFT AND ARMS ACT REGISTERED IN DIFFERENT POLICE STATIONS OF DELHI.

Keeping in view, the regular directions of senior officers regarding checking the menace of criminals and to curb street crime, police presence has been increased in the beat area of PS Kashmere Gate by regular area patrolling and conducting random picket checking during odd hours to surprise the criminals. PS Kashmere Gate staff has also been directed for maximum use of ROKO-TOKO strategy of Delhi Police.

BRIEF FACTS:
On 30.07.2022, a dedicated police team of PS Kashmere Gate led by SI Ranvijay (In-charge PP ISBT), comprising of ASI Bal Hussain and ASI Virender was deployed in the area for intensive patrolling, under the close supervision of Inspr. Kumar Jiweshwer, SHO/PS Kashmere Gate and guidance of Shri Vijay Singh, ACP/Kotwali.

During patrolling at about 08:00 PM, when the above said police team reached near Foot Over Bridge, ISBT Kashmere Gate, they noticed a suspected person coming from Yudhustar Setu. On seeing the police staff in uniform, he tried to escape from the spot by swiftly moving backwards. On his suspicious activity, the valour police team acted swiftly and swung into action, ultimately they succeeded to apprehend the suspect person after a short chase. He could not give any satisfactory reply about his presence and escaping from the spot to the police team.

On his cursory search, one Button Actuated Knife and a mobile phone, make VIVO were recovered from his possession. Thereafter, he was interrogated who was identified as Mehfooz, age-24 years. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 474/22 dated 30.07.2022, u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered at PS Kashmere Gate and investigation was taken up.

INTERROGATION:
During interrogation, the accused Mehfooz, aged-24 years revealed that he had purchased the recovered button actuated knife from an unknown person for Rs. 300/- who met him in the area of Seelampur, Delhi about a week ago and he was using the same for committing criminal activities and to terrorise the innocent people during commission of theft. Moreover, the accused person disclosed that he has stolen the recovered mobile phone, make VIVO from a person in Seelampur area today i.e. 30.07.2022 and he has to sell the same to someone needy person at cheap price.

Further, he disclosed that he was wandering in the area for committing crime like theft of mobile phones and passenger’s bags etc. in the busy market areas or in interstate buses. It disclosed that he used to particularly steal the mobile phones of passengers who usually visit at ISBT as well as in busy market areas of Delhi.

On sustained interrogation, it revealed that the accused is a desperate and habitual criminal with the history of involvement in 03 cases of Robbery, Theft and Arms Act registered in different police stations of Delhi.

The accused is a school dropout and has studied up to 6th standard only and he became addicted to consuming the drugs. So he started to commit crime to earn easy money and to fulfil his habit of drugs.

DETAIL OF ACCUSED PERSON:
• Mehfooz r/o Janta Colony Welcome, Delhi, age-24 years. (Previously found involved in 03 cases of Robbery, Theft and Arms Act registered at Police Stations Gokul Puri, Civil Lines and Darya Ganj Delhi).

RECOVERY:
• One Button Actuated Knife.
• One stolen VIVO mobile phone. (Yet to be connected with crime).
