India women beats Sri Lanka women to win seventh Asia Cup title

20221016_014339.jpgThe Indian women's team won the Asia Cup 2022 defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the final. India defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets to win the 2022 Women's Asia Cup final at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh on Saturday. The team chased a target of 66 runs, cruising to 71 for two in 8.3 overs in a thrilling performance while opener Smriti Mandhana hit 51 runs off 25 balls.

20221016_014301.jpgSri Lanka’s decision to bat first backfired as it put up 65-9 with just two batters reaching double digits. Number 10 batter Inoka Ranaweera scored highest with 18 and Oshadi Ranasinghe added 13. In reply Indian opner Mandhana’s aggressive batting made the target easier as she confirmed the victory with a six over long-on to help India reach 71-2 in just 8.3 overs. She hit six fours and three sixes in her knock to help India clinch its seventh Asia Cup title.
