The counting of votes for the second and final phase of the Madhya Pradesh municipal elections began today. The voting was held across five municipal corporations, 40 municipal councils, and 168 Nagar parshads on July 13. A voter turnout of 72.10 percent was recorded- out of which 73.90 percent were males and 70.10 percent were females.

The BJP has got a setback in the results of 5 municipal corporations in Madhya Pradesh. Congress got the victory in Rewa, and the party also got a steady lead in Morena. While congress mayoral candidate Ajay Mishra won the election by a margin of 8953 votes in Rewa, BJP’s Geeta Durgesh Agarwal won in Dewas and BJP candidate Prahlad Patel won in Ratlam. While BJP is leading in Ratlam and Dewas, Independent candidate Preeti Suri won in Katni.
While Congress got success in 2 out of 45 wards. BJP won a unilateral victory in Sehore, the home district of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Congress could not open an account here. Except for the closet, BJP has captured all the city councils and made clean sweet in three municipal councils of Nasrullaganj, Budhni, and Rahati.
