Baghpat 11 September (desk):-Baghpat, Binauli – In a shocking incident, more than 20 monkeys were found dead in the forested area of Ranchad village, allegedly after being poisoned. The matter came to light when local youth, who had gone for a run on Monday evening, discovered the lifeless bodies of monkeys scattered across various spots in the forest. The sight of frothing mouths and blue-tinged bodies led villagers to suspect that the animals had been deliberately poisoned.

Outraged by the discovery, villagers buried the dead monkeys in the forest by digging pits. The following day, some farmers noticed more monkey carcasses hanging from trees and proceeded to bury them as well. Concerned residents immediately reported the incident to the police, who arrived at the scene to investigate the deaths.

While villagers suspect foul play, the Forest Department has distanced itself from the issue. Forest Officer Sunendra Singh acknowledged receiving complaints but clarified that monkeys are no longer classified as protected wildlife. Hence, the department has no direct involvement in the matter.

The incident has sparked anger among the locals, who believe that mass poisoning of the monkeys is a cruel and inhumane act. They are demanding a thorough investigation to identify and hold those responsible accountable for the deaths of the animals. Police are continuing their inquiry to determine the cause and perpetrators behind the poisoning.
