Originally from Azamgarh, Jyoti had married Nitish Kumar, a resident of Chandauli, a year ago. The couple had been living in a rented apartment in Vasundhara Sector 10 after their marriage. Nitish Kumar is employed as a Deputy Engineer at CEL Sahibabad. According to ACP Indirapuram, Swatantra Singh, police were alerted when Jyoti's body was found in the green belt area of the society.

The police investigation revealed that the couple had frequent arguments over minor issues. On the night of the incident, Jyoti and her husband had another dispute, after which she left the house without informing anyone. Her phone was later found on the 18th floor of the building, which led the police to believe she may have jumped from there.

Jyoti’s family has not yet filed a formal complaint. Police have questioned her husband, Nitish, and are waiting for the post-mortem report to confirm the cause of death. The incident has raised concerns about mental health and domestic issues, and further investigations are underway.
