Baghpat 11 September (desk):-Baghpat (Daha) – A farmer named Brajveer, who had gone to irrigate his crops in the fields of Nirpuda village, was attacked by a leopard. The incident occurred when the leopard emerged from the nearby sugarcane fields and pounced on the farmer. Brajveer, however, bravely fought back, striking the animal on its face with a stick, causing the leopard to retreat into the sugarcane field. Brajveer then fled towards the village, raising an alarm.

Upon receiving information about the leopard attack, a team from the Forest Department arrived at Nirpuda village to conduct a combing operation in search of the animal. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the leopard could not be found. Villagers also joined in the search, but the elusive animal remained hidden.

Local farmers have demanded that a trap be set up in the forest to capture the leopard, especially since another leopard was found dead in the same area a month ago. The discovery of the dead leopard had raised concerns that more leopards might be roaming in the forest.

According to Sanjeev Kumar, a forest ranger, the forest department is investigating the leopard's footprints but has not been able to locate the animal. He urged the farmers to exercise caution and travel in groups while working in the forest.
