TWO SNATCHERS INCLUDING ONE CCL ARRESTED / APPREHENDED BY PS KOTWALI

SNATCHERS TRYING TO RUN AWAY FROM THE SPOT AFTER COMMITTING SNATCHING WERE ARRESTED BY THE ALERT PATROLLING STAFF OF PP RED FORT, PS KOTWALI.

ONE OF THE ARRESTED/APPREHENDED SNATCHERS WAS A CCL WHEREAS THE OTHER ACCUSED WAS PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN 16 CRIMINAL CASES.

02 CASES OF SNATCHING AND THEFT REGISTERED AT POLICE STATIONS KOTWALI AND BARAKHAMBA ROAD HAS BEEN WORKED OUT.

ONE SNATCHED MOBILE PHONE AND THE MOTORCYCLE USED IN THE COMMISSION OF THE CRIME HAS BEEN RECOVERED.

In compliance of regular directions of senior officers, regarding checking the menace of criminals and to curb street crime, robbery & snatching, police presence has been increased and intensive patrolling is being undertaken near Red Fort and around Chandni Chowk, Delhi.

TEAM & OPERATION:
A team comprising of SI Yogesh, HC Amit led by Inspr. Pushpendra, I/C-PP-Red Fort was constituted under the leadership of ACP Ved Prakash, SHO/PS Kotwali and close supervision of Shri Vijay Singh ACP/Kotwali.

On 23.08.22, at about 12.15 AM, when SI Yogesh and HC Amit were on patrolling, they noticed that two boys coming towards them and one person chasing behind them by shouting “CHOR CHOR”. Both the police officials immediately swung into action and moved towards the motorcycle rider but they tried to go back. Unfortunately, their motorcycle slipped and in the meantime both of them were apprehended.

Complainant Tamzin Neema (age-26 years) r/o Changu, Dist. Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh also reached the spot and stated that he was booking a cab at Red Fort bus stand near Angoori Bagh. Suddenly, the apprehended boys on motorcycle came from Chatta Rail side and snatched his mobile phone.

On cursory search of the apprehended boys, the snatched mobile phone was recovered from their possession. On inquiring about their identity, one of them was found to be a CCL who came out from OHB one month ago and the other one was identified as Mohd Junaid, age -23 years.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 793/22 u/s 356/379/411/34 IPC was registered at PS Kotwali and further investigation was taken up.

INTERROGATION:

During interrogation, the accused persons confessed about their involvement in the present snatching case.

On sustained interrogation, the accused Mohd Junaid revealed about his involvement in other crimes. On verification in police record, he is found to be involved in 16 criminal cases registered in different police stations of Delhi. He studied up to 9th standard and is unemployed. He is a drug addict and indulged in criminal activities to make easy money to fulfil his lust of drugs/liquor.

The CCL was released from OHB one month ago.

CASES WORKED OUT:

02 cases of snatching and theft registered at Police Stations Kotwali and Barakhamba Road have been worked out with their arrest.

DETAILS OF ACCUSED MOHD JUNAID:
Mohd Junaid r/o DDA Flat, Mata Sundari Road, New Delhi, age-23 years. (He was previously involved in 16 Criminal cases out of which 01 incident of robbery, 04 snatchings, 01 Arms Act and 10 cases of thefts registered in different police stations of Delhi)
