Alleged victim himself found accused of manipulating facts and trying to stage-manage an incident of sensational robbery, with the help of his relative. Sections of law changed from section 392/397/34 IPC to 408/411/120-B/182/34 IPC and accused arrested.

The police officials of PS Sarai Rohilla have shown a rare example of professional aptitude, investigating skill and high grade of presence of mind in foiling the attempt of stage-managing an incident of sensational robbery by a roguish servant, with the help of his relative, to usurp Rs.24 Lakhs of his employer. The accused tried to manage the incident by distorting the facts and misleading the police but the hawk-eyed police officials not only surfaced the true facts but also recovered whole amount of Rs. 24 lakhs from the possession of the accused persons within a notice period of less than 24 hours.

The facts of the case are that on 14.09.2022, around 07:30 AM, three persons namely Sumit Luthra @ Raju, Anil Kapani and Puran Singh came to PS Sarai Rohilla and reported that Rs. 24 lakhs were robbed from Puran Singh in the early hours in the morning at Sarai Rohilla Fly-over at the point of fire arm by four persons, two of them were in a Volkswagen Car and two were riding a motorcycle. The statement of Mr. Puran Singh was recorded in which he stated that on 14.09.2022, he had received Rs. 24 lakhs from one Mukesh Jain, who had come from Cuttack, Orissa and had to left for Haridwar for “ASTHI VISHARJAN” of his deceased brother in a Taxi. He received the money in the parking area of New Delhi Railway Station and left for the residence of his employer at Ashok Vihar in the Maruti Celerio Car. When he reached at Sarai Rohilla Fly-over, one Volkswagen car overtook his car and stopped him. Two persons also blocked his way from back-side from a motorcycle. In the meantime, two boys travelling the Volkswagen car came to him and asked him to open the window glass by targeting him with a pistol. As soon as he opened the window glass, one of the boys unlock his Celerio Car and the another boy opened the other side gate and sat in the car. He broke his phone and took away the bag containing Rs.24 lakhs. They also threatened him not to make call to anyone-else, otherwise he would be killed. After robbing Rs. 24 lakhs from him, all the four persons escaped from wrong side. He made a call to his employer from the phone of an Auto driver.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 593/22 dated 14.09.2022 u/s 392/397/34 IPC was registered at PS Sarai Rohilla on the statement of victim Mr. Puran Singh and investigation was taken up.

TEAM & INVESTIGATION:
A team of dedicated Police Officials of PS Sarai Rohilla comprising of Inspr. Kuldeep Singh (Inspr. Investigation), Inspr. Kuldeep (Inspr. Law & Order), SI SK Jha, HC Sandeep, HC Ram Babu and HC Amit Yadav was constituted under the close supervision of Shri Shish Pal/SHO PS Sarai Rohilla and guidance of Shri Prashant Choudhary/ACP Sarai Rohilla.

During investigation all the CCTV Cameras, installed on the route taken by the victim, were checked to ascertain if someone had been following him from the parking area of New Delhi Railway Station but none found chasing the car of the victim. The CCTV footage of one of the camera, installed at the parking near Kamal “T” point Red Light were also checked in this process. It revealed that one person had arrived on a Scooty and stopped the same at a distance of about 10/15 meters from the Red Light by taking turn towards Shastri Nagar. He kept on standing there for about half an hour. In the meantime, the car of the alleged victim came from Karol Bagh side and took turn towards Shastri Nagar. The car was stopped near the person, who had come on the Scooty and standing there for about half an hour, for a few seconds and proceeded further. The person came on Scooty was also seen in action on the stopping of the Celerio Car of the alleged victim.

Upon this, the complainant/victim Puran Singh was examined in length and he disclosed that he had confirmed knowledge that one Mukesh Jain would be coming to Delhi with a huge payment and he had to bring the same from New Delhi Railway Station. Hence, he hatched a conspiracy with the help of his brother-in-law (SALA) Sandeep to grab the money by stage-managing an incident of robbery. He also disclosed that the person, who had come on Scooty was his brother-in-law Sandeep and the money was with him. Mr. Sandeep, the brother-in-law of the alleged victim was also deeply interrogated. He confessed his involvement in stage-managing the incident of robbery and got Rs. 24 lakhs recovered.

Accordingly, the sections of law were changed to 408/411/120-B/182/34 IPC and accused persons namely Puran Singh and Sandeep were arrested on 15.09.2022. They were produced before the court and the Hon’ble Court remanded them to J.C. for 14 days.

PROFILE OF THE ACCUSED:

  1. Puran Singh r/o Pocket-B, Ashok Vihar Phase-II, Delhi, aged-40 years. Permanent address Vill. Bijoli, PS Pali Mukimpur, District Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He is not having any previous criminal involvement.
  2. Sandeep r/o Pocket-B, Ashok Vihar Phase-II, Delhi, aged-24 years. Permanent address Village Rajoura, PS Patiali, District Etah, Uttar Pradesh.

RECOVERY:

  1. Cash Rs. 24 lakhs.
  2. Electric Scooty used in the commission of crime. (Owned by the accused Puran Singh).
  3. 01 Car, make Celerio. (Owned by the wife of Anil Kapani).
  4. 02 Mobile phones of the accused persons.
