THEY CHEATED INNOCENTS BY LURING THEM TO PURCHASE ELECTRONIC ITEMS THROUGH ONLINE FACEBOOK POSTS.
03 MOBILE PHONES & 03 SIM CARDS USED FOR LURING CUSTOMERS, RECOVERED.
MAIN MASTERMIND ALONGWITH HIS WIFE STARTED CHEATING PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT STATES SINCE LAST 6 MONTHS AND CHEATED MORE THAN 50, IN LIEU OF SELLING ELECTRONICS OR HARDWARES AT DISCOUNTED RATES.
THEY WERE ALSO FOUND INVOLVED IN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN U.P. AND RAJASTHAN.
With the arrest of 03 desperate fraudsters namely, (1) Love Pahwa S/o Amit Kumar R/o Geeta Colony, Delhi Age- 24 years, (2) Mukesh Luthra @ Pankaj S/o Lt. Sh. Gulshan Luthra R/o Pandav Road, Vishvash Nagar, Delhi Age- 26 Years and (3) Kiran Nagpal w/o Love Pahwa R/o Lakshmi Nagar, Delhi, Age- 38 Years, Staff of Cyber PS North-West solved a cheating case registered vide case FIR No. 44/22 u/s 420 IPC PS Cyber and recovered 03 mobile phones & 3 SIM cards used for used for luring customers. They used to cheat innocents by inducing them to purchase electronics items or Hardwares at discounted rates through advertisements on Facebook groups or pages. Together, they have cheated more than 50 innocents in last 6 months in different states. They disclosed that they were also involved in similar complaints in U.P. and Rajasthan.
Brief Facts and Incident Details:-
On 17.06.2022, a complaint was received in PS Cyber North-West in which complainant namely, Sh. Nar Singh Age- 32 years S/o Bhoop Singh R/o Kingsway Camp, Delhi alleged that he saw a post/advertisement on a Facebook Page/Group regarding sale of a Laptop with one mobile number mentioned in it. The complainant contacted on the given mobile number who assured him to provide said laptop at cheaper rate of Rs. 45,000/- and induced him to transfer a part of money in advance. He transferred Rs. 15,000/- in 1st installment upon which he was further convinced to transfer at least 50% of total amount. Thereafter, he further transferred Rs. 5,000/- through UPI. Again, he was contacted and further lured to transfer Rs. 2200 as delivery/ courier charges. In total, he transferred Rs. 22,200/- to the alleged persons. He realized the fraud happened with him, when neither the laptop was delivered, nor the alleged persons picked his calls.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 44/22 u/s 420 IPC was registered in Cyber Police Station and investigation was taken up.
Investigation &Team:-
Considering the gravity of offence and nature of incident, a dedicated team led by Insp. Vijender, SHO/ PS Cyber comprising of SI Nakul, HC Mohit, W/HC Reena, HC Pradeep & Ct. Shubham was constituted under the close supervision of ACP/Operations and overall supervision of the undersigned. The team was briefed properly and tasked to nab the culprits at the earliest.
The team immediately obtained the beneficiary account details and mounted the technical surveillance. The details were thoroughly scrutinized and sources were deployed to gather local intelligence in order to nab the accused person. Based on information collected and analysis of details, a raid was conducted by the team at a address in Lakshmi Nagar, Delhi from where three accused persons, (1) Love Pahwa S/o Amit Kumar R/o Geeta Colony, Delhi Age- 24 years, (2) Mukesh Luthra @ Pankaj S/o Lt. Sh. Gulshan Luthra R/o Pandav Road, Vishvash Nagar, Delhi Age-26 Years, (3) Kiran Nagpal w/o Love Pahwa R/o Lakshmi Nagar, Delhi Age 38 Years were apprehended and digital evidence related to the instant case were collected, including 03 mobile phones and 3 SIM cards which found connected in the present case.
During their sustained interrogation, they confessed their involvement in the instant case and Love Pahwa S/o Amit Kumar emerged to be the mastermind of this fraud. He disclosed that he alongwith his wife and one friend/associate used to commit online fraud to earn easy money, in order to bear the expenses for leading a lavish/luxurious life.
He further disclosed that he and his associate namely, Mukesh Luthra @ Pankaj S/o Lt. Sh. Gulshan Luthra used to check details of possible targets from posts/ advertisements on Facebook Page/Group regarding sale of electronics/ sanitary/ hardware items. They used to get contact numbers of interested customers from the comments posted on these posts on Facebook. They further used to call the interested customers and lure them that they would provide desired items at discounted rates and further induced them to transfer half amount in their bank accounts as advance and amount in name of delivery charges. They also used to post their fake advertisements for selling electronics items on discounted rates on Facebook.
They further disclosed that they used to cheat innocents by inducing them to purchase electronics items or Hardwares through advertisements on Facebook groups or pages. Together, they have cheated more than 50 innocents in the last 6 months in different states. They also disclosed that they were also involved in similar complaints in U.P. and Rajasthan.
They used to receive the cheated amount in bank account of co-accused Kiran w/o Love Pahwa (main mastermind) through UPI transactions or online transfers. They shared the earned cheated amount in the ratio of 70% by Love Pahwa and 30% by Mukesh @ Pankaj. Accused Love Pahwa used to lure customers to transfer money and accused Mukesh used to withdraw the amount through ATM so as to share the same as per their percentage.
Details of Accused Persons:-
Love Pahwa S/o Amit Kumar R/O Geeta Colony, Delhi Age- 24 years. He is originally from Karnal District of Haryana and studied upto 8th standard. He is fond of living a luxurious life & travelling and to bear the expenses, he started cheating innocents. He also indulged in Gambling activities to earn quick money where he met his another associate Mukesh @ Pankaj. He also met his life partner (another co-accused) through facebook & got married.
Mukesh Luthra @ Pankaj S/o Lt. Sh. Gulshan Luthra R/o Pandav Road, Vishvash Nagar, Delhi Age-26 Years. He is originally from Jahangir Puri and mortgage his home in Jahngirpuri as he was indulged in criminal activities and later shifted in Laxmi Nagar where he became friend of Love Pahwa.
Kiran Nagpal w/o Love Pahwa R/o Lakshmi Nagar, Delhi-110092 Age 38 Years. She is wife of main mastermind Love Pahwa whom she met on Facebook and got married. She received the cheated amount in her account which was later withdrawn by co-accused to share the same as per their percentage.
Recovery:-
03 Mobile Phones and 03 SIM Cards.
Further investigation of the case is in progress.
